It has been a busy week with conferences this week. Thank you to all of you for coming in to talk about the first term of the school year. I really enjoyed meeting with all of you. I haven't managed to sit down and upload photos this week, so you are getting them all at once!
A fun literacy activity for the Kindergarteners: put all of the letters in order, then roll a letter die and remove letters one by one until all the letters are gone.
Alphabet Soup: fill in the blanks of the missing alphabet letters (kids could choose capital letters, lowercase letters and some of the soup pots had a few missing letters, some had more and some had all the letters missing)
The kids were able to choose which activity they wanted to work at today.
awesome construction!
Math time, we worked with two sided beans to count and make number stories (equations). Each person had 6 beans today. We spilled the beans and coloured how many red beans we saw. For some kids, that's as far as they went. Others counted and then printed the numeral. Others counted red beans, counted white beans and made an addition equation (number of red beans plus the number of white beans equals the number of beans altogether).
We had a fire drill yesterday and the class was AMAZING!
Today, we started the day with a walk to the forest. We were greeted by frost on the ground and frost on the leaves. The frost helped us see the veins more clearly.
When we got to the field, we noticed a big frosty patch on the grass. We looked at why that might be happening and noticed the shadows. Then we looked around us to see where the shadow might be coming from. We located the sun and saw that the shadow was caused by a tree behind us.
Then we explored the forest! It was chilly but beautiful.
We found some interesting markings on a log and wondered how they got there.
(sorry for the blurry photos! it's a busy time with lots of movement and excitement)
Wonderful team work
Have a fantastic weekend!
