We worked on more complicated patterns today and the kids did so well! We also learned how to name patterns using letters. The pattern above is an a, b, c, a, b, c pattern. The kindergarten kids had a head start when the grade 1s went to guided reading and then the grade 1s had a chance to build patterns later in the day (pictures to follow).
Today, for our literacy learning (kindergarten) we played "find the pompom". Each pair of kids hid a pompom under one cup and mixed the cups up and the other person had to guess which cup had the pompom under it. Each cup was labeled with a letter and the only way to check for the pompom was to name the letter on the cup.
As we got good at it, we added more cups and more letters.
We did some printing today....the letter A.
And then we were back at our pattern building.
We talked a lot about fall/autumn today and some of us started painting some fall leaves to hang in our classroom. Those who didn't have a chance today may get a chance tomorrow, and definitely will get a chance next week.
Ms Zubic is looking forward to a great day tomorrow with the class.
