Perseverance at its Best!

I have had some feedback from families about some of the drawing videos that I have been posting. I know they are challenging! Some of the kids have started the drawings feeling a bit frustrated. While I don't want to create a situation where kids are feeling so frustrated that they "shut down", I do want to mention that being a little frustrated is not necessarily a bad thing. When we encounter problems and learn how to work through them, we build our resilience (which is a life skill, as so many of us are experiencing in our current circumstances in the world). If your child encounters feelings of frustration or difficulty, help coach them. Teach them strategies to work through the frustration. Sometimes leaving the activity and revisiting it later after some time to reflect and process is all it takes to change a difficult situation into a success. I love hearing these stories, the ones where kids didn't give up and persevered. This teaches us all that sometimes things don't come easily. I know I feel much more accomplished when I have had to work hard to learn a new skill. We learn from our "mistakes" and we can apply the new lessons we learn to other parts of our lives. Celebrating the Earth

This week, GN thought a lot about our Earth and came up with three things that we can do to help our Earth.

She also painted a beautiful watercolour painting of the Earth and all of the beautiful, natural things she loves about the Earth. What a nice image to end our Friday with.

A Bit of Printing and A Bit of Spelling

IP has been busy working on spelling and printing this week. She is doing a great job using lowercase letters for her printing. This is something that we have been working on at school. We try to remember that capital letters are just used at the beginning of names and at the beginning of a sentence. This is great work! Thanks for sharing!
