So, I am learning that working full time and working on finishing a Masters Degree and being a mom makes it hard to get everything done in a day that I hope to accomplish! So, here we are with three days rolled into one blog post.
We have been working on story workshops. The kids "build" a story using materials and tell their story orally. This builds oral language skills and also serves as a jumping off point for actual story writing. The kids are able to practice story language and their ideas develop effectively when they have props to guide their thinking.
I took a video of the kids telling their stories and then printed out the stories so that they can be shared. Unfortunately, this blog does not allow me to post videos.
We found ice!
We wondered why this puddle hadn't frozen when the others had.
Putting the ice on the rock to see how long it took to melt ("we're doing an experiment!" is what one of the kids announced to me)

Today, we all did art, we drew reindeer. They are almost finished (they just need a touch of outlining and then they will be displayed in the hallway above our coat hooks.
We got together with our buddies today to make ornaments to hang on a tree in Gerry's garden (the garden right behind the school). Every year, Brooksbank students decorate one tree in the garden to thank Gerry for all that he does. Gerry is a 99 year old neighbour who transformed the space behind the school from bramble into a garden. We appreciate all that he does and to say thanks to him, we decorate a tree at Christmas time. We will hang our ornaments next Thursday. They look wonderful!
Have a fantastic weekend!
